About the position

The Tax Director position at Baker Tilly is a leadership role within the Firm Tax department, focusing on providing entity tax services. This position emphasizes partnership tax and offers a unique opportunity to work without the typical busy season pressures. The role involves collaboration with clients and team members to deliver comprehensive tax compliance and advisory services, particularly for domestic and foreign partnerships, individuals, and corporations. Responsibilities

  • Provide federal tax compliance and consulting services to Baker Tilly.
  • Deliver tax compliance and advisory services to domestic and foreign partnerships, individuals, S Corporations, and C Corporations, with a focus on domestic partnerships.
  • Participate in tax research projects and assist in drafting IRS responses and addressing tax authority inquiries.
  • Collaborate with leaders on special projects related to flow-through taxation.
  • Develop and share recommendations with leadership for strategic discussions.
  • Communicate with specialty tax practices on complex tax matters in various areas including state and local taxation, high net worth, international, and credits and incentives.
  • Stay updated on trends and developments in tax to apply to complex situations.
  • Engage in direct coaching and mentoring, and participate in firm-wide learning and development programs.
  • Network and build strong internal relationships using entrepreneurial skills.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through mentoring and the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy.
  • Manage engagement staffing and ensure client budgets are met.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting or law is required.
  • CPA or JD is required.
  • Ten (10)+ years of experience in tax return review and planning for wealthy individuals, with strong experience in personal taxation and exposure to flow-through entities, partnership taxation, and corporate taxation.
  • Five (5)+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring, and counseling associates is desired.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others while providing exceptional client service.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current with applicable strategies.
  • Strong management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills are required.
  • Highly developed Microsoft Suite skills (Word, Excel) are required.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship is highly preferred.
