About the position

The Tax Director at Hatch Global Search is a key leadership role within the Tax team, responsible for managing complex compliance engagements and providing consulting services primarily in the manufacturing sector. This position requires a strong technical background in tax, client service orientation, and the ability to supervise and mentor a team of tax professionals. The role emphasizes collaboration and teamwork, ensuring that clients receive timely and accurate tax services while adhering to applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex compliance engagements including income tax returns and trust returns.
  • Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of federal and state income tax returns in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Delegate and manage tax research projects to achieve accurate and efficient outcomes.
  • Participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts, assisting the Business Assurance Department with larger clients.
  • Act as a resource for tax preparers and Business Assurance Staff on specific tax issues.
  • Assume client service responsibility, working directly with clients as delegated by the Partner.
  • Communicate important tax developments affecting clients to appropriate firm personnel.
  • Supervise the tax team and provide on-the-job training.
  • Assist the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with larger clients when necessary.

Requirements

  • Current CPA license is required.
  • 8 years' experience in public accounting with proven progression in tax return complexity and scope.
  • At least 2 years representing clients before taxing authorities.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent accounting hours required.
  • Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
  • Minimum 40 hours of continuing education required yearly.
  • Member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
  • Proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or other tax automation/workflow software is a plus.
