Responsibilities

  • Researches a variety of sources and analyzes tax issues.
  • Initiates actions on tax issues by obtaining applicable returns and schedules.
  • Verifies, analyzes, and adjusts taxpayer accounts.
  • Secures payment of delinquent taxes and filing of delinquent returns.
  • Determines financial, levy source, adjustment, and uncollectible information.
  • Advises taxpayers of appeal procedures.
  • May serve as a technical advisor, OJT coach, or classroom instructor.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, including interactions with the public and analyzing tax or accounting issues.
  • Experience must include analyzing and resolving problems, adjusting accounts, and providing information on financial issues.
  • Must meet Time in Grade (TIG) requirements for positions above GS-05.

Nice-to-haves
