About the position

The position involves working with an engagement team to deliver quality tax services to clients across various industries, including manufacturing, oil and gas, insurance, healthcare, wholesale/distribution, financial institutions, governmental, and nonprofit organizations. The role emphasizes maintaining the firm's core values and service standards while preparing federal and state tax returns for both business and individual clients. It also includes honing tax research and planning skills, effectively communicating results, and understanding client objectives to maximize service value.

Responsibilities

  • Work with an engagement team to provide quality tax services to clients in various industries.
  • Prepare federal and state tax returns for business and individual clients.
  • Apply general tax rules and concepts to returns.
  • Hone tax research and planning skills, identifying, analyzing, and articulating problems and opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate results, both internally and externally, on project and client information.
  • Understand client objectives and maximize the value of the service provided.
  • Maintain understanding of relevant computer software applications for efficient time use.
  • Review and work within firm operational budgets and billing constraints.
  • Develop time management skills and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Attend and participate in tax training as assigned by management.
  • Participate in professional and business organizations as required.
  • Engage in client development and marketing efforts as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the firm's quality control standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college preferred.
  • Compliance to or working towards compliance with the 150-hour rule preferred.
  • Experience as an intern in a public accounting environment and/or six months to 2 years of public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong technical, research, organizational, and analytical skills required.
  • Experience in a paperless accounting software preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
