About the position

Goldman Sachs & Company is seeking a talented business and data intelligence professional to join the Tax division as an Analyst specializing in Data Analytics. This role is pivotal in assisting with the design and implementation of Tax datasets, working closely with tax compliance and reporting teams as well as data engineers. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating canonical and Global Tax data models that streamline and support Global Tax level data management. This position is ideal for individuals who are creative, collaborative, and possess strong ethics and attention to detail, as the work directly contributes to the firm's success. In this role, you will facilitate the divisional adoption of the firm's Data Governance Framework, which is essential for enabling efficient business operations. Your responsibilities will include analyzing and translating business requirements into long-term solution data models, evaluating existing data systems to create a Global Tax data model for the Tax division, and applying the data governance framework to ensure the design and implementation of business and technical rules that produce the highest data quality. You will also be tasked with building automation and workflows to address data control gaps, implementing data strategies, and converting logical models into physical data models. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with business partners and technology leaders to identify key areas for data quality improvement. You will facilitate and arbitrate data quality issue resolution across business and technology stakeholders, including external vendors. Additionally, you will engage with data and analytics experts to enhance the functionality of our data systems and collaborate with Tax engineers throughout development, testing, and production phases.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and translating business requirements into long term solution data models
  • Evaluating existing data systems to create a Global Tax data model for Tax division
  • Applying the data governance framework to ensure the design and implementation of business and technical rules produce the highest data quality
  • Building automation and workflows to uplift data control gaps
  • Implementing data strategies and converting logical models into physical data models
  • Facilitating and arbitrating the data quality issue resolution cross business and technology stakeholders including external vendors
  • Working with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
  • Working with Tax engineers with development, testing and production

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Hands-on experience with one or more mainstream programming languages (Python, Java, C, Scala, C++, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and SQL
  • Experience in a visualization tool such as Tableau preferred
  • Experience dealing with data (structured or unstructured) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with various stakeholders
  • Willingness to work in a fast paced environment
  • Interest in applying technical knowledge to Financial Services industry
  • Strong sense of ownership and driven to manage tasks to completion

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in working with databases (Oracle, Sybase IQ, Snowflake, Hadoop etc.)
  • Experience with Alteryx
