About the position

The position is for a Tax Accountant focused on Private Equity within CBIZ's Private Equity Tax Co-Sourcing team. The role involves providing co-sourcing and outsourcing services for Credit-Focused Alternative Asset Managers, assisting with all aspects of an in-house tax function, and managing multiple internal and external professional resources. The position offers opportunities to work on high-profile clients and engage in interesting technical matters while maintaining a work-life balance in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as client's trusted advisor, demonstrating proficient knowledge of technical skills, industry trends, and alternatives.
  • Identify client issues and conflicts; proactively communicate solution options to client and team.
  • Review all federal and state tax returns and K-1s and related filings.
  • Review and respond to federal and state notices received.
  • Assist in gathering data and reviewing schedules to be used in preparing tax returns.
  • Coordinate tax compliance processes with clients' functional teams and external service providers.
  • Prepare year-end estimates.
  • Manage staff on engagement deliverables, ensuring quality control standards are met and on-time delivery.
  • Understand the client's organization, procedures, and internal policies.
  • Manage and retain multiple client relationships, engagements, and special projects.
  • Responsible for billing and realization on assigned clients.
  • Assist with developing engagement budgets and ensuring desired realization on assigned clients.
  • Identify need for staffing resources and manage scheduling process for staff.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff; communicate effectively.
  • Foster a team environment and support management decisions.
  • Participate in practice development activities that lead to new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 6 years of experience in public accounting or related field.
  • 3 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments, and prioritize each assignment as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Proficient use of applicable technology.
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs.
