About the position

The Tax Manager in Business Tax Services for Exempt Organizations at EY will provide tax guidance and planning to high-profile clients, focusing on maintaining their tax-exempt status. This role involves reviewing tax returns for exempt organizations and their affiliates, implementing tax strategies, and mentoring junior tax professionals. The position offers the opportunity to develop technical skills and build client relationships while contributing to the success of tax-exempt organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clients with tax guidance and planning related to protecting tax-exempt status.
• Review tax returns for exempt organizations and their taxable affiliates, including 990s, 1120s, and 1065s.
• Implement tax strategies that align with clients' business objectives.
• Develop thorough understanding of EY methodologies/tools to enhance service delivery.
• Help develop staff and junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a related field, supported by significant tax or legal experience; MST, MAcc, JD/LLM preferred.
• Valid US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active state bar membership.
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a professional tax organization, law firm, or IRS.
• Understanding and experience with tax-exempt and non-profit taxation.
• Strong analytical skills, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in large tax-exempt organization tax compliance/consulting in either professional tax firm, IRS or law firm.
