About the position

The Tax Manager - Generalist position at our boutique CPA firm in Boston involves overseeing tax return preparation and review, managing client deliverables, and providing tax planning services for individuals and businesses. The role is designed for experienced professionals looking to advance their careers with a path to partnership, while also offering flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and manage tax returns, extensions, and tax planning calculations for businesses and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).
  • Prepare and review complex tax planning projections for individual and corporate estimated tax liabilities.
  • Manage and monitor client deliverables and due dates.
  • Prepare or review complex U.S. and state individual income, gift tax, and estate tax returns.
  • Conduct complex tax research and prepare memoranda outlining findings and conclusions.
  • Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices.
  • Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters.
  • Lead the department in knowledge of software, processes, and workflows.

Requirements

  • Active CPA or EA certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting.
  • Strong preparation and review experience for S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, Individual & Multi-state tax.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong experience working with Gift, Trust, and Estate Returns.
  • Experience signing off on returns.
