The Tax Manager - Generalist position at a boutique CPA firm in Boston involves overseeing tax return preparation and review, managing client deliverables, and leading the department in tax-related knowledge. Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and manage tax returns, extensions, and tax planning calculations for businesses and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).
• Prepare and review complex tax planning projections for individual and corporate estimated tax liabilities.
• Manage and monitor client deliverables and due dates.
• Prepare or review complex U.S. and state individual income, gift tax, and estate tax returns.
• Conduct complex tax research and prepare memoranda outlining findings and conclusions.
• Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices.
• Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters.
• Lead the department in knowledge of software, processes, and workflows.

Requirements

• Active CPA or EA certification.
• 4-7+ years of public accounting experience.
• Experience preparing and reviewing S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, Individual, and Multi-state tax returns.
• Strong preparation and review experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong experience working with Gift, Trust, and Estate Returns.
• Experience signing off on returns.
