About the position

The Tax Manager position at our firm is a pivotal role that involves managing multiple client tax returns and delivering high-quality tax services. This position is designed for a professional who is eager to work directly with individuals and business owners on various tax-related issues. The Tax Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all procedures are followed to guarantee timely and quality services, as well as meeting critical deadlines. Our firm utilizes a paperless system for tax projects, making familiarity with electronic systems for tax preparation, project management, and document storage essential for success in this role. In this role, the Tax Manager will conduct interviews with clients to gather necessary information, prepare and review complex tax returns for a diverse range of clients including individuals, businesses, non-profits, trusts, and estates. The position requires managing multiple client tax engagements simultaneously while building new relationships and cultivating existing ones. The Tax Manager will also be responsible for reviewing and evaluating the work of staff members, providing in-depth tax planning for clients, and conducting tax research to ensure compliance and optimal tax strategies. Collaboration with the Client Services department is crucial to meet the accounting needs of business clients, ensuring a comprehensive approach to their financial management. This position offers a hybrid work schedule during the off-season, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Interview clients to gather necessary information for tax preparation.
  • Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, businesses, non-profits, trusts, and estates.
  • Manage multiple client tax engagements simultaneously.
  • Build new client relationships and cultivate existing ones.
  • Review and evaluate the work of staff members.
  • Conduct in-depth tax planning for clients.
  • Perform tax research to ensure compliance and optimal strategies.
  • Coordinate with the Client Services department to meet business clients' accounting needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA certificate required.
  • Minimum of 5 years public accounting experience.
  • Experience in preparing and managing multiple individual and business tax returns.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with tax software programs.
  • Previous experience with CCH ProSystem fx or CCH Axcess preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow directions.
  • Proficiency in keeping within time budgets.
