About the position

At Anglin Reichmann Armstrong, P.C., we are seeking a Tax Manager to join our Tax Advisory Group. This role is pivotal in providing tax planning and advisory services, as well as tax preparation, compliance, and specialty tax credits to a diverse range of individual and corporate clients. The Tax Advisory team is dedicated to addressing complex tax issues across various industries, including Government Contracting, Construction and Real Estate, Manufacturing, and Health Care. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations, which includes preparing and filing tax returns for various entities such as individuals, corporations, and partnerships. In addition to tax compliance, you will develop tax strategies aimed at minimizing tax liabilities and maximizing cash flow for our clients. This involves staying updated on tax law changes and advising clients on the tax implications of their business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate strategies. You will also provide advisory services on tax-efficient restructuring, tax credits, and international tax strategies, ensuring that clients are well-informed about the tax implications of their financial decisions. Your role will also include conducting detailed tax research to support compliance and strategy decisions, documenting and justifying tax positions, and performing complex reconciliations of the general ledger. You will prepare and analyze financial statements for tax purposes, assist with quarterly and year-end tax accruals, and mentor junior staff members to help them develop their skills. As a trusted advisor, you will interact with clients to understand their tax needs and financial goals, ensuring that we provide outstanding client service and support their growth.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations by preparing and filing tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
  • Develop tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize cash flow for clients, staying updated on tax law changes.
  • Provide advisory services on tax-efficient restructuring, tax credits, and international tax strategies, advising on the tax implications of business transactions.
  • Conduct detailed tax research to support compliance and strategy decisions, documenting and justifying tax positions.
  • Perform complex reconciliations and write-ups of the general ledger, identifying and resolving discrepancies while guiding junior staff.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for tax purposes, including adjusting financial statements and calculating tax provisions.
  • Mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and training to help them develop professionally.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their tax needs and financial growth goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-6 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm.
  • CPA, Enrolled Agent, or seeking CPA designation.
  • Strong communication, technical, and management skills.
  • Ability to delegate tasks, work in a team, and train staff members.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with multi-state corporate returns and preparation of complex federal and state income tax returns.
  • Basic tax knowledge including Individual, Corporate, Pass-Through Entities, Tax Research Skills, and Tax Planning & Advisement.
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in tax laws.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with International Tax, Trust & Estates, Not for Profit, Employee Benefit Plans, or ESOPs.
