About the position

The Accountant/Tax Preparer position at a Hazlet CPA firm is designed for a self-motivated individual with a strong background in tax preparation and accounting. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of recent experience in preparing 1040 and various business tax returns, with the ability to work independently and complete tax returns from start to finish. The ideal candidate will also have a working knowledge of General Ledger accounting and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file 1040 and various business tax returns independently.
• Reconcile balance sheet and General Ledger accounts.
• Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Complete the full cycle of accounting, including fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
• Prepare accounting-related reports as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of recent tax preparation experience.
• Working knowledge of General Ledger accounting and reconciliation.
• Experience with financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency in Intuit Lacerte Tax, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office (Excel).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
