About the position
A boutique CPA firm in Newcastle, WA is seeking a part-time or contract tax preparer to join their team. This remote position offers a flexible schedule and focuses on individual and small business tax returns, particularly 1040 returns. The role may evolve into a full-time or salaried position, emphasizing work-life balance and the importance of life beyond tax work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare individual income tax returns, specifically 1040 forms.
- Follow up with clients and act as a liaison between clients and the IRS.
- Assist in responses to tax notices and inquiries.
- Onboard new clients and answer various client questions during the tax preparation process.
Requirements
- Valid CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) license is required.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of tax preparation or tax administration experience is preferred.
- Experience in preparing individual income tax returns.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with international tax filings is a plus but not required.
- Excellent organization skills and proficiency in Excel are preferred.
- Knowledge of CCH Axcess and BNA Tax Planner is preferred.
