About the position

The Tax Preparer role at Robert Half involves preparing tax documents for small businesses and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. This position is contract to permanent and is based in Jersey City, New Jersey. The role requires proficiency in accounting software and strong customer service skills to effectively address client inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Oversee tax preparation for small businesses to ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations
• Utilize accounting software systems such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate records
• Conduct bank statement reconciliations to verify accurate financial records
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing and resolving customer inquiries related to tax preparation
• Conduct data entry tasks for accurate record-keeping and to support accounting functions
• Understand and apply knowledge of allowances and deductibles in tax preparation
• Ensure accurate disbursement of checks as per the ledger.

Requirements

• Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems
• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services
• Experience with CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax
• Proficient in Drake Tax Software
• Understanding of Accounting Functions and Allowances
• Strong Customer Service skills
• Accurate Data Entry abilities
• Knowledge of Deductibles in the finance industry
• Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Understanding of current tax laws and regulations
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred
• Relevant certifications in the field will be considered an advantage.
