About the position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Preparer with proficiency in UltraTax to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing and reviewing individual tax returns, specifically 1040 forms, ensuring accurate, timely filing while providing exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual tax returns (1040) accurately and efficiently.
- Utilize UltraTax software to complete and file returns.
- Analyze client financial documents and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Identify potential credits, deductions, and opportunities to minimize tax liabilities.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of all filings.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather information, clarify data, and explain tax-related concepts.
- Maintain client confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all tax practices.
- Stay up-to-date with tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience preparing individual tax returns, specifically 1040 forms.
- Proficiency in UltraTax software.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- CPA/EA certification preferred but not required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
