About the position

Alliance Wealth Management Group is seeking an experienced Tax Professional/CPA to join our team in Flemington, NJ. Our firm is dedicated to providing authentic, independent financial advice and professional tax services to our clients. We manage globally-diversified portfolios tailored to meet various risk-return objectives, from conservative to aggressive growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both client accounting services and income tax preparation, ensuring that our clients meet their federal and state tax obligations in a timely manner. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing tax compliance requirements and implementing strategies to minimize tax liabilities. You will prepare and review tax returns for various entities, including corporations (S and C corps), partnerships, and individuals, as well as other forms such as 706, 709, 990, and 5500 as necessary. A critical aspect of this position involves analyzing financial statements and business documents to recommend appropriate year-end adjustments that accurately reflect taxable income. Effective communication is key, as you will interact with the IRS and state tax authorities to resolve tax notices and assist in federal and state tax examinations. You will also conduct research on tax issues and assist with tax planning, documenting your findings in technical memos. The role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, as you will work closely with clients to address their tax-related inquiries and concerns. Additionally, you will supervise and train less experienced staff and interns, ensuring they understand the firm's procedures and processes. Participation in the client billing process and involvement in professional and community organizations to build networking skills are also expected. Responsibilities

  • Assess the tax compliance requirements to ensure that clients timely comply with tax laws and regulations to meet their federal and state tax obligations.
  • Analyze and minimize tax liabilities by implementing tax reduction strategies and techniques.
  • Prepare and/or review tax returns and work papers for corporations (S and C corps), partnerships, and individuals.
  • Review and understand the underlying financial statements, business documents, and supporting information to recommend appropriate year-end adjustments to arrive at taxable income.
  • Communicate effectively with the IRS and/or state and local tax authorities and recommend appropriate actions to resolve tax notices.
  • Assist in federal and state tax examinations.
  • Research tax issues and assist with tax planning matters by locating and assessing the relevant tax authorities.
  • Write supporting technical memos as necessary to document the research.
  • Demonstrate a high level of verbal and written communication skills and work with other professionals in a team environment.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, review their tax information, and respond to their questions and concerns.
  • Supervise and train less experienced staff and interns in the firm's procedures and processes.
  • Navigate the various software programs and tools used by the firm.
  • Participate in the client billing process to assist Managers and/or partners.
  • Participate in professional and community organizations to build networking skills and develop valuable professional contacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and strong academic achievement required; Master's degree preferred in Accounting, Taxation, MBA or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in public accounting or directly relevant industry experience.
  • CPA certification or CPA candidate.
  • Proficient use of applicable technology.
  • Experience with UltraTax software is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong project execution skills necessary to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally.
  • Experience with individuals, endowments, and trusts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and values the power of working as a team.
