The Tax Research Analyst position at H&R Block is a full-time role focused on providing expert assistance to tax preparers during the tax season. The analyst will utilize their research and writing skills to address complex tax law inquiries, ensuring accurate and compliant tax return preparation for individuals, businesses, estates, and trusts. This role supports H&R Block's commitment to delivering best-in-class service to its tax professionals, leveraging extensive training and resources to maintain current tax knowledge and provide timely responses to inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and professional written responses to complex tax law and procedure questions submitted by tax professionals.
• Use research tools and databases to research tax law and regulatory issues.
• Work with teammates and team leads to ensure compliance with service level agreements.
• Provide best-in-class customer service, striving for clear, prompt, and accurate assistance.
• Demonstrate teamwork and maintain a curious mindset.
• Maintain current tax knowledge.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Tax, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 or more years of professional legal or accounting experience, with a preference for tax preparation or research experience.
• Ability to research complex tax situations and communicate results clearly.
• Willingness to learn new information and skills and to be coached.
• Willingness to work independently and seek assistance when necessary.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
• Access to high-speed internet service.

Nice-to-haves

• Current JD or CPA certification or an appropriate/equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Judicial Clerkship or experience writing memoranda of law.
• Circular 230 designation.
