About the position

As an SAP Specialist Leader at Deloitte Tax LLP, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and development of our Tax Technology Consulting (TTC) group. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, as you will be responsible for leading implementations and managing client relationships. Your entrepreneurial spirit and passion for technology will be essential as you engage with top decision-makers at key clients, organize pursuit teams, and lead the proposal development process. You will also contribute to the development of pricing strategies for proposals, ensuring that our offerings are competitive and aligned with client needs. In your role, you will manage day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors, ensuring that their expectations are met and exceeded. You will lead engagement planning and budgeting, mobilizing and managing teams to deliver high-quality work products on time. Your ability to define deliverable structures and facilitate buy-in from top management will be crucial in directing the engagement's success. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing engagement economics and risks, ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and scope. As part of your practice development responsibilities, you will develop practical solutions and methodologies, contribute to thought leadership through publications and public speaking events, and participate in the creation of industry periodicals. You will also play a key role in people development, acting as a counselor and coach to team members, providing input into staffing processes, and actively participating in recruitment and retention activities. Your leadership will support delivery teams and staff across local offices, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Deloitte's TTC group is dedicated to helping clients improve their tax operations through innovative technology solutions. Our Enterprise Tax Integration (ETI) professionals provide an integrated approach to process improvement, ensuring that tax departments maximize their strategic value within organizations. With a focus on ERP systems, our team helps clients navigate the complexities of tax compliance and implementation, leveraging our extensive experience to avoid common pitfalls and achieve successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients.
  • Organize and lead pursuit teams for business development.
  • Participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process.
  • Contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies.
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors.
  • Lead engagement planning and budgeting.
  • Mobilize and manage engagement teams effectively.
  • Define deliverable structure and content for projects.
  • Facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client.
  • Direct on-time, quality delivery of work products.
  • Manage engagement economics and risks.
  • Develop practical solutions and methodologies for tax technology.
  • Create thought leadership documents and participate in public speaking events.
  • Provide input and guidance into the staffing process.
  • Actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities.
  • Provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years' experience in corporate, multistate, indirect, value-added, or transaction tax compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Completion of at least two full lifecycle SAP implementations.
  • Experience with tax technology applications (e.g., OneSource, Vertex, Avalara, Sovos/Taxware, Oracle Enterprise Business Tax).
  • Active accreditation: Licensed CPA, Licensed Attorney, Enrolled Agent, or relevant technical certifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree such as MST, JD, or LLM.
  • Experience with a Big 4 firm or large ERP/consulting organization.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills using MS Visio and MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience in ERP system implementation.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Discretionary annual incentive program based on individual and organizational performance.
  • Competitive salary range of $145250 to $330590.
