About the position

As a Tax Senior Manager at RSM, you will play a pivotal role in managing complex tax engagements for clients in the asset management industry, focusing on private equity funds, hedge funds, and fund of funds. This position emphasizes technical expertise, people management, and client service, allowing you to leverage your extensive tax knowledge to provide high-quality advice and drive business development within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements with a focus on high-value quality tax advice and seek to expand services to Asset Management clients.
  • Serve as a Career Advisor by training, developing, mentoring and/or coaching one or more employees, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm.
  • Drive growth and profitability to the Asset Management practice by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross selling and identifying new clients for the tax practice.
  • Serve as Tax client service coordinator while developing and executing the firm's client service plan.
  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of RSM's tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and general mergers and acquisitions activities.
  • Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards.
  • Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach.
  • Manage client needs in conjunction with cross-functional engagement teams across the tax practice (e.g., state & local tax, international tax, tax technology, tax mergers & acquisitions, etc.).
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional or local accounting firm; or equivalent in industry or with a law firm
  • Active CPA, JD/LLM or EA
  • Extensive tax compliance & consulting experience serving Asset Management clients
  • Strong working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Ability to manage and grow a book of business
  • Proven track record simultaneously managing multiple projects and client engagement teams from start-to-end.
