About the position

As a MassMutual US Financial Services Auditor, you will have the opportunity to function as an operational risk and control expert, providing advice and mentoring to audit associates and business area management while championing compliance with standards for audit practices and procedures. The MassMutual Corporate Audit Team is located in both Boston and Springfield, and if you are an audit or risk professional looking to leverage your skills at a company focused on transforming the life insurance business, this role is for you. You will partner and collaborate with peers and clients to support an operationally focused audit plan, driving positive change across the organization with opportunities to improve internal controls through value-added recommendations. In this role, you will conduct audits and advisory services in accordance with professional standards and department policies and procedures, demonstrating a strong understanding of risk concepts, including inherent and residual risks, as well as how to assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls. You will deliver medium scale, more complex, risk-based audits, working with business management and other risk/control functions to ensure that controls are effective in managing risks. Developing and nurturing relationships with business management and other constituencies will be key, focusing on the customer and strengthening business value add. The position requires a can-do attitude and the ability to deliver results on cross-team efforts that increase Corporate Audit's value and effectiveness. You will promote team business knowledge and client relationships, influencing and providing advice, such that the team represents a highly sought-after analytic business partner. Strong communication skills, a passion for learning, leadership traits, resilience, and self-awareness are highly valued in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits and advisory services in accordance with professional standards and department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of risk concepts, including inherent and residual risks, and assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Deliver medium scale, more complex, risk-based audits, working with business management and other risk/control functions.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with business management and other constituencies, focusing on customer value add.
  • Demonstrate accountability, agility, and a dedication to inclusivity in all tasks.
  • Promote team business knowledge and client relationships, influencing and providing advice to enhance Corporate Audit's value and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of audit experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to pass a non-registered fingerprint background check for FINRA.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of audit experience preferably within the financial services industry.
  • MBA, CPA, CIA, CFA or other professional designation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Versatility in communicating across various levels of management.
  • Knowledge of risk concepts and internal controls assessment.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving capabilities.
