About the position

The Taxpayer Assistance Technician (Bilingual - Spanish) position at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Revenue involves providing assistance to taxpayers and their representatives regarding tax laws, regulations, and procedures. This role includes clerical support and requires proficiency in both Spanish and English to effectively communicate with a diverse clientele. The technician will research taxpayer accounts, verify tax liabilities, and assist in the completion of tax-related forms, while also training seasonal personnel and delivering presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Research and review taxpayer accounts and records using department systems.
  • Assist and advise taxpayers or their representatives on completing tax returns and reports.
  • Verify tax liability, penalty, and interest, and explain how these amounts were determined.
  • Explain applicable tax laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Request and gather necessary documentation from taxpayers or representatives.
  • Prepare proper departmental forms.
  • Train tax season personnel.
  • Deliver presentations.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in reviewing tax documents and making taxpayer liability decisions.
  • Three years of experience in the collection of taxes.
  • Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to read and write in Spanish and English.

Benefits

  • Full-time employment with a standard work schedule of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
