About the position

Raytheon is seeking a senior software engineer to join our software development team in Fort Wayne, IN. This role involves leading the design, development, and testing of application software and tools, primarily using languages such as C++, C, and Java. The engineer will tackle complex technical software problems and work within an Agile scrum environment to deliver practical solutions that enhance existing applications and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in the requirements, design, development, and testing of application software and tools.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
  • Lead and participate in internal review of software components and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevSecOps and test automation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Experience with EVMS (earned value management systems) or similar.
  • Experience developing in data fabric capabilities including Common Data Model, Data Mediation, Data Fusion, Data Distribution, and Event Management.
  • Experience with data ingress and egress development using tcp/ip, rest services.
  • Experience integrating sensor products, command & control, and effector products at military customer locations.
  • Experience with OSGI architectures, Kubernetes, and Docker.
