The Financial Data Analyst position at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is designed for individuals with experience in budget analysis and financial reporting. This role is integral to the Budget and Planning team, focusing on supporting the agency's mission of protecting public health and natural resources. Responsibilities

• Compile and maintain budgetary data and reports for management decisions.
• Complete projects including planning, organizing, coordinating, and closing out project activities.
• Monitor commitment accounting, including maintenance of position funding and agency financial structure.
• Develop and maintain procedures for routine tasks and projects.
• Review and evaluate proposed agency regulations and prepare analyses of potential fiscal implications.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in business, public administration, or a related field plus three years of experience in budget preparation or analysis.
• Four years of experience in auditing, accounting, budget preparation, financial management, or statistical analysis.
• Experience in developing budgetary reports and presenting budget forecasts to executive management.
• Training or experience in Microsoft Access and/or Excel.
• Experience with the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS).

Nice-to-haves

• Registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
