About the position

The Outreach and Event Specialist at the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) plays a crucial role in promoting Texas agricultural products through marketing and event coordination. This position involves recruiting participants for TDA programs, assisting with event logistics, and developing relationships to enhance market opportunities for Texas businesses. The specialist will work under general supervision, contributing to various marketing initiatives and ensuring successful execution of events.

Responsibilities

• Actively recruit and retain participants for applicable TDA programs and assist them in seeking and developing new market opportunities.
• Assist with all functions of events and activities, including ensuring businesses are prepared for the event, communicating with participants, and coordinating travel details if applicable.
• Design and distribute applications and mechanisms to collect follow-up information from partners and measure feedback and results of events each year.
• Research and recommend new sources for participant recruitment.
• Attend various functions to promote Texas products, including stock shows, fairs, trade shows, and other special events.
• Follow all TDA policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting TDA Regional Offices with special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (one year of work experience related to the primary responsibilities may substitute for one year of college).
• One (1) year work experience in marketing, outreach, or event coordination.
• Experience working for or with small businesses.
• Work experience making presentations to groups.
• Valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
