About the position

The Outreach and Events Specialist at the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) plays a crucial role in marketing and promoting Texas agricultural products. This position involves coordinating marketing and trade promotion activities, providing support to Texas businesses, and developing professional relationships to enhance market opportunities. The specialist will work under general supervision, contributing to various outreach initiatives and events to promote Texas agriculture both locally and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Actively recruit and retain participants for applicable TDA programs and assist them in seeking and developing new market opportunities.
• Assist with all functions of events and activities, ensuring businesses are prepared, communicating with participants, coordinating travel details, and preparing reports post-activity.
• Design and distribute applications and mechanisms to collect follow-up information from partners and measure feedback and results of events each year.
• Research and recommend new sources for participant recruitment.
• Attend various functions to promote Texas products, including stock shows, fairs, trade shows, and other special events.
• Follow all TDA policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting TDA Regional Offices with special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (one year of work experience related to the primary responsibilities may substitute for one year of college).
• One (1) year work experience in marketing, outreach, or event coordination.
• Experience working for or with small businesses.
• Work experience making presentations to groups.
• Valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in agricultural marketing or trade promotion.
• Familiarity with Texas agricultural products and markets.
