The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is seeking a County Liaison Officer for Dickens, Texas. This position is integral to the emergency response framework and involves complex consultative services and technical assistance work. The County Liaison Officer will support the planning, development, and implementation of local and county emergency management programs, providing essential technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the public. The role requires the officer to assist local emergency operations centers (EOCs) or Disaster District Emergency Operations Centers (DDEOCs) during both planned and unplanned events. The position operates under limited supervision, allowing for moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment, and reports directly to the assigned District Chief. A fleet vehicle is provided for work-related travel, and extended hours may be necessary on occasion. Within 90 days of hire, the selected candidate must establish residency within the assigned county. The salary for this position is fixed for both internal and external applicants, starting at a minimum of $4,888.00 monthly. The role is security-sensitive, requiring a criminal history investigation as part of the hiring process. The County Liaison Officer will be responsible for coordinating emergency management programs with local governments, emergency response organizations, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration during emergencies. This position also involves conducting initial damage surveys, needs assessments for disasters, and preparing various reports to evaluate local and county programs for compliance with emergency management regulations and policies.
