About the position

The Teacher for Architecture and Drafting is responsible for providing instruction to students in grades 9-12, focusing on architectural principles and drafting techniques. This role involves planning lessons, evaluating student progress, and maintaining discipline within the classroom. The teacher will implement contemporary teaching methods and engage with students, parents, and the community to foster a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional planning and written lesson plans in accordance with the instructional program objectives.
• Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate student progress.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievements and attendance.
• Implement instructional methods based on contemporary learning theories and teaching methodologies.
• Participate in the development and implementation of new teaching techniques.
• Maintain classroom discipline and establish reasonable rules of conduct.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and conduct.
• Participate in professional development and in-service meetings.
• Coordinate and attend class field trips and extracurricular activities.

Requirements

• Successful completion of all student teaching requirements.
• Completion of coursework required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Possession of a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) endorsed for this position.
• Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements.
• Knowledge of contemporary teaching principles and practices.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
