About the position

The Teacher for Afterschool Tutoring in Scottsboro, AL is responsible for helping students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. This role involves planning and implementing educational programs tailored to meet the individual needs of students, creating a conducive learning environment, and evaluating student progress. The position is contracted at a rate of $35 per hour and requires adherence to state certification requirements and local board policies.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals by communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media designed to meet the needs and capabilities of students.
• Evaluates student progress on a continuous and systematic basis.
• Communicates with school administration and seeks assistance from resource personnel for proper student placement.
• Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with school administrators, students, and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
• Assists administration in developing and implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Involves students in establishing and maintaining standards of classroom behavior.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy.
• Participates in decisions regarding placement of student teachers, volunteers, and teacher assistants.
• Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Attends and participates in faculty meetings and in-service activities.
• Participates in decisions and accepts responsibility for extra-curricular activities.
