About the position

The Teacher Aide position is designed to support the Agency's needs by assisting the Teaching Team in all daily classroom routines and procedures. The primary goal is to provide developmentally appropriate care and education for children, adhering to established principles of early childhood education. This includes compliance with The Office of Early Childhood Daycare Regulations, National Association for the Education of Young Children Accreditation Standards, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The Teacher Aide will play a crucial role in ensuring that children are supervised at all times, maintaining safety and cleanliness in the classroom, and supporting the educational program by collaborating with the Teaching Team to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum. In this role, the Teacher Aide will be responsible for supervising children, ensuring compliance with supervision policies, and maintaining appropriate teacher-to-child ratios. The position requires attending team meetings and completing necessary paperwork, including accident reports and daily health checklists. The Teacher Aide will also assist in providing a curriculum that meets the developmental needs of children, implement behavioral strategies for children facing challenges, and support the completion of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) as needed. Additionally, the Teacher Aide will engage with families and children, fostering professional relationships and ensuring effective communication. The role includes ensuring compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program, managing meal counts, and ensuring that meals meet program standards. Overall, the Teacher Aide will contribute to a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, while also supporting the overall mission of the Agency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure children are supervised by sight and sound at all times as stated in CRT Supervision Handbook.
  • Comply with and enforce CRT Supervision Policy and Procedures of children, including maintaining appropriate teacher to child ratios and group sizes.
  • Attend team meetings, CRT trainings, and other required meetings.
  • Complete required paperwork in a timely manner in accordance with CRT policy and procedure, including accident reports and daily health checklists.
  • Responsible for overall safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of the classroom at all times.
  • Maintain that both classroom and playground are well organized and free from clutter at all times.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and follow all agency safety procedures and reporting.
  • Collaborate and assist in providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily plan in accordance with assigned CRT curriculum.
  • Assist in implementing behavioral strategies for children with behavioral challenges.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP) Goals as needed.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with all families and children daily.
  • Engage with and respond to individual children during activities and routines.
  • Use and model positive guidance techniques with all children in accordance with CRT policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) as outlined by program standards.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 ECE Credits.
  • Minimum CT Charts a Course Ladder Level of 5 required.
  • One (1) year experience working with children in a state-licensed program preferred.
  • Ability to keep and maintain records as instructed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member.
  • First Aid for Children, CPR Certification, and Administration of Medication preferred.
  • Candidate must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
