The Art Teacher position at Haywood County Schools is designed to foster students' interest and skills in artistic expression and creativity within the visual arts. In this position, the teacher will develop and administer the school art curriculum in alignment with the school district's goals and objectives. They will create instructional materials and translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences, ensuring that the available time for art instruction is utilized effectively. The teacher will instruct students in various art forms, including crafts, drawing, painting, design, and art history, while also conducting ongoing assessments of student skills and learning. This includes modifying instructional methods to accommodate individual student needs, particularly for those with special needs. The Art Teacher will demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting, using both standard and teacher-prepared instructional aids. They will organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction and ensure that students learn the proper care and use of tools and equipment used in art classes. Evaluating each pupil's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding is crucial, as is preparing progress reports and planning art displays to showcase students' work. Additionally, the teacher will continue to acquire professional knowledge through seminars and workshops, maintain accurate records for student activities, and encourage parental involvement in students' education. They will also coordinate with other school staff and participate in faculty meetings. The role may involve selecting and requisitioning appropriate art materials and maintaining inventory records. Other related tasks may be assigned by the Principal or other administrators as needed.
