About the position

The Art Teacher (Elementary) position at Columbia Public Schools is responsible for providing art education to elementary students. Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
• Plans and implements a program of study tailored to individual student needs.
• Creates a conducive classroom environment for learning.
• Prepares for classes and provides evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process towards curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives.
• Employs various instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Collaborates positively with administrators, colleagues, and parents.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports.
• Evaluates learning problems and seeks assistance from specialists as needed.
• Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
• Implements policies governing student conduct and develops classroom behavior rules.
• Makes provisions for availability to students and parents outside instructional hours.
• Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides or volunteers.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field.
• Valid Missouri teacher certificate in Art K-12.
• Preferred: 3 years of experience teaching Elementary Art.
