About the position
The Teacher Assistant (Early Childhood) at Pueblo of San Felipe is responsible for supporting the assigned Teacher in ensuring the safety, supervision, and education of Head Start children. This role involves developing lesson plans, maintaining communication with families, and contributing to a safe and healthy learning environment. The position requires active engagement with children and collaboration with teaching staff and parents to enhance the educational experience.
Responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with the assigned Teacher to ensure the safety and education of Head Start children.
- Develop lesson plans and teaching aids in collaboration with the Teacher.
- Maintain open communication and develop relationships with children, parents, and staff.
- Encourage family involvement in the Head Start program.
- Attend Parent Committee meetings and other related meetings as required.
- Serve as a role model for children, parents, and the community.
- Assist in planning field trips and activities appropriate to curriculum goals.
- Supervise all children at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the classroom according to Head Start Performance Standards.
- Maintain complete and accurate student records, daily attendance, and meal counts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) within 2 years of hire.
- Good communication skills with staff and parents.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work closely with children, parents, and staff.
Nice-to-haves
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Ability to converse in both Keres and English languages.
