The Teacher Assistant at Mount St Marys Day Care Center plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Teacher in various school functions and activities. This part-time position involves maintaining and organizing the classroom while adhering to the standards set by the office of child and family services and relevant health and safety regulations. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about working with children and are willing to undergo training to enhance their skills in this area.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Teacher in daily classroom activities and functions.
• Maintain and organize the classroom environment.
• Adhere to facility standards of conduct and regulations from the office of child and family services and New York Health Department.
• Complete required training and orientation to perform job duties competently.
• Interact with parents and children, providing support and care as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or one year of experience working with children under 13 years of age.
• Experience working with children is preferred, but training will be provided.
• Completion of a minimum of thirty (30) hours of training every two years, with fifteen (15) hours required in the first six months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

• Patience and understanding of child development stages.
• Ability to read, write, and follow lesson plans and action plans.
• Skills in light housekeeping and cooking.
