About the position

The Teacher Assistant at UCP of Central Florida plays a crucial role in supporting the Teacher/LTA in an Early Childhood classroom, catering to a diverse group of 9-18 students, including those with disabilities. This position focuses on implementing lesson plans, assisting in classroom management, and ensuring a nurturing environment for all children. The role is integral to the educational experience, promoting best practices and maintaining positive interactions with staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Implements lesson plans including instructional groups per teacher's direction.
  • Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for the classroom.
  • Assists in administering assessments and progress monitoring.
  • Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
  • Utilizes and ensures consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.
  • Performs lead teacher assistant duties in the absence of the teacher.
  • Keeps up on best and promising practices for education by attending professional development and participating in book studies.
  • Provides caretaking and housekeeping duties as needed, such as changing students and keeping the classroom clean.
  • Maintains positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
  • Attends required trainings, meetings, and events.
  • Ensures administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
  • Ensures compliance with procedures, requirements, and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • DCF 45 hour Training must be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • CRP/First Aid Training required.
  • Prefer at least 1 year experience working with children, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • Prefer experience working with students with disabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in First Aid.
