About the position

The Teacher/Assistant Program Director at the Assistance League of Los Angeles plays a crucial role in supporting the Preschool Program Director and ensuring the effective operation of the preschool. This position involves a combination of administrative duties, curriculum development, and direct teaching responsibilities, all aimed at providing quality education and support to children aged 2-5 years. The role emphasizes compliance with educational standards and regulations while fostering a safe and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain accurate paperwork according to compliance guidelines.
  • Ensure all files and children's assessment records are kept current.
  • Review all submissions to administration for accuracy.
  • Develop an age-appropriate curriculum focusing on the needs of each child.
  • Direct activities of the teaching team/teachers under supervision.
  • Actively supervise children in the classroom and during activities.
  • Set up a portfolio system for organizing children's observations and documentation.
  • Maintain records of each child's progress and development.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment.
  • Provide oversight for program implementation utilizing evaluation tools.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual reports for CDE and NAEYC.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans based on educational standards.
  • Oversee the CACFP program and ensure meal delivery procedures are followed.
  • Participate in conferences, parent meetings, and training as assigned.
  • Discuss concerns regarding safety and well-being with the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in an early childhood education setting working with children ages 2-5 years.
  • Three years of experience as a Lead Teacher or Site Supervisor in early childhood education.
  • Experience working with special needs children and knowledge of relevant regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written communication is highly preferred.
