About the position
The Teacher Assistant position at Devereux involves working in an educational environment focused on supporting children with Autism and other developmental disabilities. The role emphasizes a strengths-based approach and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to implement effective treatment interventions. The Teacher Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring student safety, fostering a conducive learning environment, and assisting in the implementation of individualized educational programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure student safety
- Assist in establishing classroom environments conducive to maximum learning
- Guide students to socially appropriate behaviors
- Work with Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs
- Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education preferred
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavior disorders preferred
