About the position

The Teacher Assistant position is a temporary, part-time role focused on supporting lead teachers in a classroom environment. The assistant will perform a variety of technical and clerical tasks to enhance the educational experience for students, including providing one-on-one assistance and leading small group activities. The role emphasizes maintaining a safe and organized classroom while fostering student independence and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating instructional activities.
• Constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students.
• Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom.
• Assist students with learning; reinforce and clarify instructions.
• Maintain standardized records and documentation concerning the progress of students.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in maintaining an orderly classroom.
• Perform various clerical duties as needed, including grading papers and checking attendance.
• Participate in staff development workshops.

Requirements

• High school diploma and 48 semester hours OR
• High school diploma and Associates degree or higher OR
• High school diploma and at least silver score on Workkeys.
• General knowledge of daily routines of the classroom.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to monitor the safety and well-being of students.
• Ability to motivate students and maintain a clean environment.
• Ability to perform general clerical duties and maintain order in the classroom.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with children with special needs.
• Knowledge of classroom management techniques.
