About the position
The Teacher Assistant plays a crucial role in creating and managing a safe and engaging learning environment for children. This position involves assisting in the implementation of developmentally appropriate activities that cater to the needs of both groups and individual children, while adhering to various educational standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and managing a safe and attractive learning environment for children.
- Incorporate developmentally appropriate learning activities that meet the needs of the group and each individual child.
- Follow standards and regulations of the Head Start Performance Standards and other relevant regulations.
- Supervise children visually and audibly to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Take corrective actions to prevent harm to young children by anticipating dangerous situations and responding quickly.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Experience with preschool or kindergarten-aged children in a group setting.
- Willingness to attend trainings and coursework for professional growth.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to visually supervise children and hear their communications.
- Physical ability to interact with young children, including running, bending, lifting, and climbing.
