About the position

The Teacher for the Autism Cluster is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with autism spectrum disorders. This role focuses on creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that caters to the unique needs of each student, fostering their academic and social development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism.
  • Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and social interaction.
  • Collaborate with parents, therapists, and other educators to support student progress.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary.
  • Provide training and support to paraprofessionals and other staff working with students in the autism cluster.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • State certification in Special Education or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience with behavior management techniques.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology for students with disabilities.
