About the position
The Teacher-Autism Coach position is designed to support students with autism spectrum disorders within Broward County Public Schools. The role focuses on providing specialized instruction, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborating with teachers and staff to create an inclusive learning environment. The coach will also engage with families to ensure a comprehensive approach to student development.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students with autism spectrum disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to create inclusive classroom environments.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Engage with families to support student learning and development.
- Provide training and support to staff on autism-related strategies and interventions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Certification in Special Education or Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Experience in behavior management techniques.
- Knowledge of assistive technology for students with disabilities.
