About the position

The Teacher/Caregiver Assistant I - Floater will support the caregiving staff in implementing quality programs at the Head Start Child Development Center for children aged 0 to 5. This role involves working closely with teachers and caregivers to develop age-appropriate programs, maintain a safe and nurturing environment, and engage with families to promote children's development and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing individualized developmentally appropriate curriculum according to Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Develop age-appropriate classroom environments that reflect children's work and interests.
  • Evaluate and assess the developmental levels of children and integrate this knowledge into daily programming.
  • Supervise children and staff to maintain a safe environment according to relevant guidelines and standards.
  • Implement healthful practices and maintain first aid materials in the classroom.
  • Communicate updates regarding children's progress to parents and involve them in center activities.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Complete general housekeeping tasks and obtain materials needed for instructional activities.

Requirements

  • Child Development Associate Teacher Permit plus 12 units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD) including three infant/toddler units required.
  • One year of work experience with infant/toddler age children or in an ECE/CD classroom required.
  • Possess and maintain valid CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within one year of hire.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software.
  • Effective presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Maintain a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and adequate auto insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or other secondary language based on client needs.
  • Experience with the Head Start Program.
