About the position

The Teacher for Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Agriculture at Frederick County Public Schools is primarily responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in agricultural education to middle school students. This role involves developing and implementing a curriculum that meets state standards and engages students in hands-on learning experiences related to agriculture. The teacher will create a positive learning environment that fosters student growth and encourages participation in agricultural programs. Additionally, the teacher will be responsible for assessing student progress, providing feedback, and adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Collaboration with other educators, parents, and community members is essential to enhance the educational experience and promote agricultural literacy among students. The position requires the teacher to stay current with agricultural trends and practices, integrating real-world applications into the classroom. The teacher will also be involved in organizing and supervising extracurricular activities related to agriculture, such as FFA (Future Farmers of America) events, field trips, and community service projects. This role is vital in preparing students for future careers in agriculture and related fields, as well as instilling a sense of responsibility and leadership in young learners. The teacher will work closely with school administration to ensure compliance with educational policies and contribute to the overall mission of Frederick County Public Schools.

Requirements

  • Must hold or be eligible for a teaching license with a CTE-Agricultural Education endorsement.
  • Eligible for a Technical Professional License if no prior teaching experience is present.
  • Evidence of at least 2 years of successful full-time or equivalent agricultural experience within the past 5 years.
  • Completion of an agricultural education certificate or associate degree program from a regionally accredited institution.
