About the position

The Teacher CTE - Commercial Art position at Tacoma Public Schools is a full-time role focused on providing students with engaging learning experiences in the field of commercial art. The teacher will develop and implement a curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students, fostering their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This position is a replacement contract for the 2024-2025 school year, with an expected start date of March 17, 2025, and will last until June 20, 2025, or until the returning staff member is back.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements a program of study tailored to the learning needs of students.
• Assesses student growth and provides regular progress reports.
• Implements district policies and maintains classroom behavior standards.
• Prepares lesson plans and communicates learning objectives to students.
• Maintains open communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Keeps accurate records as required by law and district policy.
• Supervises students in various settings and ensures their safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement.
• Valid Washington State teaching certificate in Career and Technical Education with endorsements in Commercial Art.
• Experience in classroom management and lesson planning.
• Knowledge of instructional principles and assessment methods.
