About the position

The Teacher for CTE MS PLTW Gateway & Business Education at Kennedy Middle School is responsible for providing leadership and quality instruction in Business Education and Technology Education. This role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and managing a conducive learning environment to maximize student achievement. The teacher will also coordinate CTE Student Organization activities and participate in professional development to stay current in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and teaches Business Education in a classroom setting.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in Business Education activities and modifies instructional methods to fit students' individual needs.
  • Prepares instructional materials aligned with curriculum standards and maintains inventory records in accordance with district policies.
  • Coordinates CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state, and/or national competition.
  • Demonstrates and teaches PLTW Technology Education using computational analysis and problem solving.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in PLTW Gateway to Technology activities.
  • Demonstrates and teaches Computer Science concepts and skills through project-based learning.
  • Manages inventory control including purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 24 credit hours in the Content area or passing the NC SBE Licensure Area Exam in Business or Technology Education.
  • Completion of NCSBE Pre-service Requirements.
  • Enrollment in an Educational Preparation Program (EPP).
  • 2 years of work experience within the past 5 years for the CTE Restricted route.
  • Completion of Project Lead the Way training (PLTW) required prior to teaching any PLTW course.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, Internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
