About the position

The Assistant Director at The Angels Child Development Center plays a crucial role in fostering a Christian environment while supporting the Lead Teacher in managing staff and ensuring compliance with Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards. This position involves both administrative and classroom responsibilities, focusing on creating a safe and nurturing environment for children and their families, while promoting bilingual communication and developmental milestones through a play-based learning approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Center Director in leading and managing staff.
• Provide guidance and support to teaching staff.
• Cultivate a safe and secure environment for children and parents.
• Keep accurate documentation of children and activities.
• Support teachers in adhering to Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards.
• Assist with coordinating monthly classroom curriculums.
• Communicate effectively and positively with staff, parents, and children.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children in a teaching or assistant position or administering child care.
• Must possess CPR, First Aid, and Food Service Sanitation certifications as required by DCFS.
• Registered with the Illinois Gateways to Opportunity Professional Development System and have or be willing to obtain the Illinois Director Credential.
• Strong leadership skills and exceptional interpersonal skills with children and adults.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a dual-language program (English-Spanish).
• Knowledge of behavioral therapy theories and practices.
• Familiarity with the latest trends and techniques in education and child-rearing.
