About the position

UCP Charter Schools is seeking an Early Childhood ESE/Behavior Teacher for UCP Bailes Early Childhood Academy. This role involves leading a classroom of 12-18 toddlers and PreK students, both with and without disabilities, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. The teacher will be responsible for developing positive relationships, providing stimulating instruction, and collaborating with families and colleagues to support student learning and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a classroom climate where students and staff have positive and respectful relationships.
  • Provide interesting and stimulating materials and instruction for students using various modalities.
  • Use a variety of information to assess the effects of learning experiences on students' development.
  • Conduct and document pre and post assessments for all students.
  • Maintain a portfolio of students' work for diagnostic purposes and implement individualized instructional strategies.
  • Engage in meaningful conversations with students and expose them to various language uses.
  • Foster relationships with families to support students' learning and well-being.
  • Ensure the School Administrator is informed of all parent concerns or complaints.
  • Collaborate with school colleagues to support students' learning and participate in school activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment, implementing safety measures and universal precautions.
  • Collaborate with therapists to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Ensure lesson plans align with Florida Birth to Age 5 State Standards and/or VPK Standards.
  • Track and monitor benchmark and goal attainment based on IEPs.
  • Implement Response to Intervention (RtI) for all students and gather data for evaluation.
  • Integrate the Arts and Technology into the daily curriculum.
  • Utilize consistent behavior management techniques and develop behavior plans as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with UCP, HIPAA, FERPA, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Provide basic caregiving duties while ensuring health and safety precautions are followed.
  • Supervise assigned teacher assistants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
  • Florida Professional Teaching Certificate or Temporary Certificate or Statement of Eligibility in Exceptional Student Education (ESE Endorsement) and Birth to Age 4 or Age 3 to Grade 3 certification.
  • Prefer 1 to 3 years of teaching experience, especially with ESE students in a general education classroom.
  • Prefer experience utilizing instructional technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with students with and without disabilities (1 year preferred)
  • Classroom teaching experience in Early Childhood (2 years preferred)
