About the position

The position is for an Art Teacher at the elementary level (PreK-5) within the Kreole Primary & Escatawpa Upper schools. The teacher will provide instructional leadership to help students achieve high levels of learning and contribute to their overall development. The role involves planning a program of study tailored to the individual needs of students, creating a conducive learning environment, and guiding the learning process towards curriculum goals. The teacher will also assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with colleagues and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and activities.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that positively affect student achievement.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in a fair manner.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, grades, and other pertinent information.
  • Encourage and model socially acceptable behavior in students.
  • Integrate multi-media technology in the teaching/learning process.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Work cooperatively with other personnel and supervisors in planning and carrying out school and district goals.
  • Employ practices that involve parents in the education of their child.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

  • A valid Mississippi teacher license.
  • A Bachelor Degree in education, minimum.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching.
