About the position
Boston Public Schools is seeking an exceptional Elementary Teacher with an SEI endorsement for a long-term substitute position. This role is designed for educators who are passionate about teaching and committed to fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment. The teacher will be responsible for delivering an interdisciplinary curriculum that aligns with state standards and supports the diverse needs of students. Responsibilities
- Teach elementary students in an SEI setting.
- Provide an interdisciplinary course of study integrating reading, writing, and analytical skills development.
- Implement district learning goals and objectives using the district-supported curriculum.
- Create a child-centered environment that establishes positive behavioral expectations.
- Administer district mid-year and end-of-year assessments.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree.
- Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience teaching in urban schools.
- Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary 1-6 and an SEI endorsement or dual certification in ESL.
- Degree in Education.
- Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
