About the position

The Teacher - Elementary, Grade 2/3 Blend position is a temporary, full-time role aimed at enhancing student success in academics through the implementation of district-approved curriculum. The teacher will be responsible for developing lesson plans, documenting student progress, and providing a safe and optimal learning environment. This role requires effective communication with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and expectations.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, music, physical education, and health education.
• Instructs students in citizenship, basic communication skills, literacy, numeracy, and other general elements of the course of study.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for individualized and small group instruction.
• Leads students through the development of a work sample and evaluates that work sample.
• Supervises and administers the Oregon Statewide Assessments, including preparation and logistics.
• Monitors individual students and classroom activities to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Plans and coordinates the work of educational assistants or other paraprofessionals in the classroom.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records and reports.
• Evaluates the instructional program for students and develops multimedia instructional materials.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for effective participation in activities.
• Creates and maintains an active, responsive climate for learning through positive teacher-student rapport.
• Communicates with parents through various means and holds parent conferences.
• Participates in in-service training to maintain professional competence.
• Participates in curriculum and developmental programs relating to students.

Requirements

• State of Oregon Teaching License with Elementary Multiple Subjects PK-12 endorsement.
• Current First Aid Card.
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students.
• Understanding of and ability to relate to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
• Skills in planning, developing, and implementing curriculum.
• Knowledge of instructional theory and best practices.
