About the position

The Teacher for Grade 3 at Gwinnett County Public Schools is responsible for creating a supportive and effective learning environment for elementary students. This role involves planning and delivering instructional experiences based on the district's Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum, assessing student progress, and fostering the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to enhance student learning and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Plan appropriate learning experiences based on the district AKS curriculum.
• Demonstrate command of the subject being taught.
• Develop and prioritize instructional objectives based on district AKS curriculum.
• Analyze student work and assessments to determine instructional needs.
• Prepare written lesson plans to support instructional objectives.
• Evaluate, select, and modify resources and activities for effective instruction.
• Communicate specific learning objectives to students and link lesson content to their prior knowledge.
• Organize content for presentation in a logical sequence.
• Utilize effective instructional strategies and methods to enhance student learning.
• Provide formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and achievement.
• Organize the learning environment to maximize student engagement and time on task.
• Maintain behavior that is conducive to learning and manage classroom dynamics effectively.
• Participate in professional growth and learning activities to improve instructional practices.
• Maintain professional responsibilities and act as a role model for students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a PSC approved college or university.
• Meets Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) AKS curriculum and effective instructional practices.
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
